![]() The term is derived from Norse mythology, as Loki is a shape-shifting god who defies gender norms. It wasn’t until 2014’s Original Sin Vol 1 2 that Loki’s gender identity was clarified. Loki Queer is a term used to describe individuals who identify as genderfluid, nonbinary, or gender-nonconforming. Some might argue that making Loki genderfluid and pansexual would be a case of Marvel "shoving too many LGBTQA characters in the MCU." These people, however, are also upset when even one LGBTQA character appears in the MCU. Instead of a standard Male or Female, Loki’s file reads Fluid. It says nothing of the character’s sexual. This file only says that their sex is fluid (because he can shapeshift). To be clear, having Loki show up as a woman does not a queer (anti)hero make. There’s zero indication that the character in the show/MCU (so far) is gender fluid though. If there was a candidate for another bisexual or pansexual character already established in the MCU, it would be Loki. Acknowledging that Loki is gender-fluid was very important to me. Love the idea that Thor is yelling at Loki about how evil Loki is being, gets called out for the wrong pronouns so he just shifts pronouns and continues. Apparently Loki in the comic books is canonically gender-fluid. There is supposedly a gay member of the Eternals. Apparently Loki in the comic books is canonically gender-fluid. However, is it possible for the MCU to feature a queer Loki? Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige has expressed interest in presenting more LGBTQA characters in the MCU Valkyrie is confirmed as bisexual. While that show might offer some potential to explore Loki's character in a more intimate fashion, it is too early to tell until we understand more about that series whether the god of mischief will explore his queerer aspects. There is no indication Loki will be even appear in anything following his Disney+ series. Don't expect to start waving pansexual flags just yet, however.
